Cubs BadgesThere are many badges and awards available to Cub Scouts to recognise their achievements in Scouting or other pursuits.Core Badges When you are invested into the Scout Troop, we give you
There are 7 Challenge Badges, recognising achievements within the Cub Pack or the community. Most parts of these badges are done through normal Cub Scouting, whether at a meeting, or a camp or another activity. Many Cubs don't even realise that what they're doing counts towards these badges - we simply tick off the parts they do as they do them. If a Cub gains all 7 Challenge Badges, they are entitled to receive and wear the Chief Scout's Silver Award. They can continue wearing this through Scouts until they achieve their Chief Scout's Gold Award. Staged Awards There are 6 Staged Awards including Music, IT, Nights Away, Swimming, Emergency Aid and Hikes Away. These awards start when a member joins Scouting, whether in Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. If a member has achieved a particular Stage in Beavers, they continue to wear that badge through Cubs and into Scouts until they reach the next Stage. We focus mostly on the Nights Away, Hikes Away and Emergency Aid badges. Other Staged badges can be earnt in a Cub's own time outside normal scouting. Activity Badges There are 33 Activity Badges available to Cubs. A few of these can be gained through normal scouting, whether at meetings or activities, while others are normally achieved in a Cub's own time. We have posters in the Scout Hut showing all the badges available. Any Cub wishing to gain a particular badge should speak to a Leader to discuss it. We're more than willing to help Cubs gain badges, but we don't simply hand them out just because you want them, you have to earn them! Badge Information Information about Cubs Badges and the requirements for earning them can be found online at Scouts.org.uk Position of Badges on Uniform If you gain a badge, please sew it on your uniform as soon as possible. Cubs should be proud of their achievements and should wear their badges with pride! While we can give you the badges when you earn them, if you lose them, we will need to charge for replacements. You should sew badges onto your uniform in the correct places. To see where to sew badges on, click here . |
